Code Compliance works proactively to maintain a safe, healthy, and high-quality community for everyone. Through education, outreach, and collaborative problem-solving, we help residents and property owners understand local codes and achieve voluntary compliance. Our goal is to prevent issues before they arise, support neighborhood improvements, and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the community through fair and consistent practices.

Common Code Violations

The most common violations that are addressed by the Code Compliance Department are:

• Trash and debris
• Tall grass or overgrown weeds
• Illegal dumping
• Junked or abandoned vehicles on private property
• Parking vehicles, trailers, and boats on grass or in yard areas. This does not include a hard surface like concrete
• Substandard and dangerous buildings

Report Possible Violations

Citizens may report possible violations in the following ways:

• Online through Report a Concern
• By email to Code Enforcement
• In person anytime Monday - Friday during business hours (except for holidays) at the front window in City Hall.

  • The property owner is responsible for correcting a code violation.
• What's the difference between a parking violation on private property vs. on a public street?
  • Parking violations on private property fall under the jurisdiction of Code Compliance, whereas parking violations on public roadways are addressed by the Police Department.
• When can I place trash on the curb to be picked up?
  • Carts should be put out no later than 6 p.m. each Wednesday. Collection runs from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursdays.
• My neighbors are making too much noise, what should I do?
  • Please contact the non-emergency police number to make a noise complaint.
• I got a notice from the Code Compliance officer about a violation on my property, but I'm not able to address it on my own. What should I do?
  • Please reach out to the Code Compliance officer as soon as possible. The City is happy to assist in any way we can!
