In order for new council members to be officially seated it is first necessary for the current council to canvass the certified election totals. We had hoped to have those numbers by the Council meeting on Thursday, May 14th so that we could canvass the vote and seat the new Council. The Denton County Elections Administration has informed us that the Early Voting Ballot Board will be meeting Friday, May 15th to consider provisional ballots and then they expect to deliver the final results we need for the canvass on Monday, May 18th. The last day to canvass the vote is May 20th. This will require calling a special meeting and we will do so as soon possible. We apologize if this causes any inconvenience, but it is a matter of law and we have no other option available to us.
