What is NaNoWriMo?

NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo is a month-long event in November when writers from all over the world challenge themselves to write a 50,000-word novel in one month. Are you up for the challenge?

Sign up any time during the month of November. Our weekly Write-In starts on November 2.

How do I participate?

Come to the Lake Dallas Public Library on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30pm.

  • Make a plan:
    • What genre will my novel be?
    • Who is the target audience of my novel?
    • What will my novel be called?
    • What are my characters’ names?
    • How old are my characters?
    • Develop a plot outline.
    • How many words am I aiming for?
      • 50,000 words ≈ 100 pages
      • 100,000 words ≈ 200 pages
    • How many words will I write per day? Per week?
  • Set aside at least one day per week to edit what you have already written.
  • Join the Lake Dallas Public Library’s weekly write-in at the library on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 PM.
  • Update your friends, family, and community on your writing with the #LDPLNaNoWriMo2021 on social media.
