Storm Water Pollution Prevention Fact Sheet
Cell Phones and Other Communication Devices Prohibited in Active School Zones
As a proactive measure to ensure the safety of our children walking or being transported to and from school, the City of Lake Dallas has adopted an ordinance prohibiting the use of hand-held communication devices in school zones, during school zone times, when school is in session. A hand-held communication device means any device by which a person may communicate with another person or transmit communications to or receive communications from another person by means of audio communication, text or data entry or receipt, or any other means of electronically transmitted communication, and includes but is not limited to cellular and mobile telephones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA’s), pagers, radios, and walkie-talkies.
A fine of up to Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) may be assessed for a violation of this ordinance.
Individuals may engage in a call while using a hands-free feature, headphones, earbud, or other device or feature that enables the user to engage in a call without the use of either hand or in a hands free manner.
Animal Registration and Rabies Vaccinations
Sec. 18-123. Vaccination required.
All dogs and cats within the city four months of age or over shall be licensed and vaccinated and the license fee paid; however, before the license shall be issued, the owner of the animal must present a certificate from a licensed veterinarian showing that the animal has been vaccinated within the preceding 12 months. Such vaccination certificate shall reflect the name of the owner, his address, a description of the animal, the date of vaccination, the number of the vaccination tag and the kind of vaccination used. The veterinarian shall furnish the owner with a metal tag, on one side of which shall be stamped the words, "Vaccinated against rabies," and the date of the vaccination; this tag shall be securely attached to the collar or harness of the animal at all times.
Sec. 18-124. Registration.
(a) No owner shall have within the city limits any dog or cat four months of age or over unless such dog or cat is currently registered with animal control. A current metal registration tag, issued by animal control, must be affixed to a collar or harness and must be worn at all times. Application for initial issuance or renewal of each registration must be made by the owner, in person, and be accompanied by a fee of $5.00. Registration certificates shall be renewed annually. If there is a change of ownership, the new owner shall have the registration transferred to his name, within ten days. There shall be no charge for the transfer.
Public Notice: EARLY WARNING SYSTEM
In the continuing effort to protect our citizens, the City of Lake Dallas has installed an early warning system. In the event of any eminent life-threatening natural or man-made disaster, sirens will sound to provide audible warning for those individuals who are outdoors.
The City of Lake Dallas utilizes two outdoor severe weather-warning sirens.
It is important to know and understand that the sirens are intended to warn only those who are outdoors. They are not intended to alert you while you are inside your home or business. The best in-home or business investment may be a NOAA weather radio. NOAA Weather Radio receivers can be purchased at many retail stores that sell electronic merchandise, including stand-alone electronic retail outlets, electronics departments within department stores, and some drug stores. Weather Radio receivers can also be purchased through some mail order catalogs and on the Internet.
The City of Lake Dallas conducts a monthly test of the warning system on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00pm, lasting for approximately 60 seconds. In addition to this test, every other week there will be a “growl” test (the siren bell will turn and sound only a short burst). A test will not be conducted if severe weather is present. A siren sounding during any severe weather, including the test day, is an actual warning and you should take cover.
