Alarm Permits

Chapter 38 of the City of Lake Dallas Code of Ordinances requires a permit for the operation of an alarm system (Generally, a permit is required for any alarm system that is intended to summon the police, fire, or medical personnel). A permit is not required if the location has no alarm or if an existing alarm is removed, or if an alarm does NOT have the means to summon police, fire or medical personnel either directly or through a third party monitoring service (any alarm with an outside audible device does require a permit).

The fee for an alarm permit is $50.00 per year and permits may be obtained 24 hours per day 7 days per week from the police department or you may download the alarm permit application and apply by mail at:

  Alarm Permit Application

To make the process easier, permits for all existing alarms will be issued during December of each year and will remain valid throughout the next calendar year. New alarms installed during the calendar year will be billed at a pro-rated share and will be renewed each December for the following year. Please complete the enclosed application/renewal form and return it with payment by mail or in person to the Lake Dallas Police Department at any time of day or night. (Applications for existing alarms must be returned before December 31). Checks should be made payable to the City of Lake Dallas. Make sure to complete the appropriate information (business or residential) so we may have an up-to-date record of contact persons should it become necessary to call a permit holder during an emergency.

To help you avoid additional costs, some sections of the Municipal Code pertaining to alarms are below.  If you have any questions, please call the Lake Dallas Police Department at
